One of Bahrain’s most famous shipwrecks – the Cut Wreck is a locally loved snorkel site. Prior to being the Cut Wreck, the ship was a commercial vessel called the “Hijaz” which was on its way to Bahrain’s port in 1964. However, due to strong winds it got diverged from its course which resulted in it crashing into the Fasht Al Adhm reef. Efforts were made to move the ship however, due to its size and weight, it was an impossible mission. Since then, many people have ventured to the ship to cut the metal that was on the boat and sold it in the market due to its value- and hence it gained the name Cut Wreck. For over half a century, this wreck has been stationed in water that is 3-5 meters in depth making it easy and safe for snorkelers to view it from the surface.
